Hello from our President,
On behalf of the National Football Foundation (“NFF”) Greater Atlanta Chapter, we are reaching out to every GHSA Athletic Director, Head Football Coach and Principal to ask for your assistance in obtaining student nominations for $1,000 college scholarships that we award each year to top GHSA senior high school football scholar-athletes and student managers. Each high school in Georgia can nominate (2) football players and (1) student manager. The final selections are based on a formula consisting of 40% gridiron performance, 40% academic achievement and 20% community involvement. Our chapter is proud to have awarded over $600,000 in scholarships since our inception in 1995.
The on-line applications can be found by clicking the “Scholarships” tab above. We ask that applications be completed on-line. If the on-line application presents any problem, please call the NFF Atlanta’s Scholarship Coordinator, Roni Rynning, at (404) 832-9593. The deadline for completed applications to be received is November.
On December 30, 2011, our recipients are honored at an Awards Breakfast followed by the Chick-fil-A luncheon. At the luncheon, the recipients are recognized in front of the college players, coaches and fans as part of the Chick-fil-A Bowl. The NFF provides Scholarship Recipients with two invited guest tickets free of charge and additional luncheon tickets are available for purchase.
As a non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization, we rely on memberships, sponsorships and donations. You can help us by joining the NFF. We offer Individual memberships and also Academic Memberships which provide benefits for both the Athletic Director and the Head Football Coach. Specific benefits of membership and membership applications can be found at the “Membership” tab above.

The foundation was started by Coach Tommy and Mrs. Stephanie Scott in memory of their son, Wyn. Wyn Scott was born premature in 1999. Complications led to a brief but memorable life for the Scotts' only son. The scholarship provides for students that showed exceptional strength, determination, and character...the same character traits exemplified by their son in his brief 25 days of life.

DALLAS, May 11, 2010 – Archie Manning, chairman of The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF), announced today the 2010 Divisional Hall of Fame Class, which considers players and coaches from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA), Divisions II, III, and the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) for induction.
This year’s class will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame during the Enshrinement Festival, July 16-17, in South Bend, Ind. The class includes:
2010 DIVISIONAL COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME CLASS
* Selection from the Divisional Veterans Committee
“The 2010 Divisional Hall of Fame Class consists of players and coaches who have defined excellence in our sport,” said Manning, a 1989 Hall of Fame inductee from Ole Miss. “We share the pride felt by their families, friends and schools and look forward to immortalizing their achievements in college football’s ultimate shrine.”
The NFF launched its Divisional Hall of Fame program in 1996 during its annual enshrinement festival. A total of 124 players and coaches, counting this year’s class, have been inducted from the divisional ranks, including Terry Bradshaw (Louisiana Tech), Walter Payton (Jackson State), John Randle (Texas A&M-Kingsville), Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State), and coach Eddie Robinson (Grambling State). Of the 4.72 million who have played college football since 1869, the newest class of inductees joins only 866 players and 186 coaches in the College Football Hall of Fame.

This year we received over 100 applications from qualified scholar-athletes and student managers from across Georgia. Thirty-five students will receive their awards on December 30, 2009 in conjunction with the Chick-fil-A Bowl luncheon at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta. College Football Hall of Fame to Move to Atlanta
DALLAS, September 24, 2009 – The National Football Foundation (NFF) announced today its board of directors has accepted a plan to relocate the College Football Hall of Fame, currently located in South Bend, Ind., to the Centennial Olympic Park area in Atlanta, Ga. The move will create a new state-of-the art 50,000 square foot interactive facility steps from the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Philips Arena, Georgia Dome, and the future Center for Civil & Human Rights.
“An impressive group from Atlanta has pulled together the financial resources and an extremely compelling plan that will help us build a new platform for the future,” said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. “Accepting their plan will create a new high-tech facility that will showcase the legends of our sport and build on the momentum and interest that we have been able to generate in South Bend.”
The current timeline calls for the new $50 million facility to open in the fall of 2012. Through a new partnership between the NFF and the Chick-fil-A Bowl, once constructed, the Hall will be operated locally by the Chick-fil-A Bowl. This will provide a built-in experienced management structure and a direct tie to a 42-year college football tradition in Atlanta with strong connections to the community. The Chick-fil-A Bowl and its corporate partner, Chick-fil-A, have collectively contributed $10 million for the new College Football Hall of Fame facility.
“We have had a great run in South Bend for the past 15 years, and it’s been a wonderful showcase for us and our mission,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “There are a lot of special people in South Bend, and we want to thank Mayor Luecke and all of his constituents for their support over the years. As we looked to the future, the NFF Board determined that the Atlanta proposal presented a powerful opportunity for reaching fans around the country.”

Jamal-Rashad Patterson who has signed with Stanford University to play football, earned recognition as the 2008 chapter’s top scholar-athlete, claiming a $2,000 scholarship. The $49,000 distributed at the event was the most of any of the 121 NFF chapters nationwide in 2008.
After Jamal-Rashad received his award in December of 2008, he went on to win the 2009 Franklin D. Watkins Memorial Trophy that is given each year by the National Alliance of African American Athletes to the top high school African American male athlete, who by their example, help promote high academic standards and a commitment to community service.

He played in 11 of Stanford's 12 games as a true freshman and scored his first collegiate touchdown against Arizona State on a 22 yard reverse, He helped his team to an impressive 8-4 record in the Pac Ten and will play in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas on December 31st.
